Frequently Asked Questions

Displacement Sensor Topic: Cover Analog Signal Output (4 to 20 mA) to 1 to 5 V

FAQ No. FAQ03268

Question

How can I change the analog output of 4 to 20 mA to 1 to 5V?

Answer

To convert the output to 1 to 5 V, connect a 250-Ω resistor (1/4 W min.) and take the potential difference across the resistor.

Example:

Connect a Displacement Sensor (with analog output of 4 to 20 mA) and a Digital Panel Meter (DC voltage input type)

* The connected resistance must be within the permitted range of the analog output load resistance of the Displacement Sensor.

* The tolerance of the 250 Ω becomes the direct output voltage error.
