Axial Fan Topic: Precautions for Building Fans into Equipment

FAQ No. FAQ01519

Question

What precautions are there for building Fans into equipment?

Answer

Always provide a Finger Guard when there is any possibility that an operator may touch a fan blade.

Provide some kind of structure, such as a safety fence or mesh, around the Axial-flow Fan installation, or mount the optional Finger Guard to the Fan.

Note: Never use a Box Fan with the Finger Guard removed. To do so may result in injury from touching a fan blade.

Note: A variety of R87F-FG Finger Guards are available. Select the one that matches the size of the Axial-flow Fan you are using.

Note: Before inspecting the Unit or replacing the Filter, be sure to turn OFF the power and confirm that the blades have stopped turning. Failure to do so may result in injury from touching a fan blade.
